HOUSE WAY

1. When you have two ranking pairs, play the two pairs as two hands.

2. Never split the following pairs:

Ngor (High Four) Foo Tau (Eleven)

Mooy (High Ten) Hoong Tau Sap (Low Ten)

Cheong Sum (High Six) Lim Lum Lok (Low Six)

Ban Tang (Low Four) Chap Ng (Mixed Fives)

3. Split:

Gee Jun (Supreme) with High 6 and 6, 5, 4

Teen (Twelve) or Day

4. Wongs Gongs and High Nines

~ If no higher play is possible, always play Wong, Gong or High Nine.

Even at the expense of the low hand.

~ Play High Nine instead of Gong or Wong and Gong instead of Wong

when given a choice.

~ When given a choice of playing a Wong, Gong or High Nine with a

Teen and Day, play the Teen on the high hand.

5. Exceptions to Wongs, Gongs and High Nines

~ Play Gong over High Nine when the fourth tile is four.

~ Play Wong over Gong or High Nine when the fourth tile is eleven.

6. General Play

~ Bring the low hand and the high hand as close together as possible

unless they can be set to a higher value.

~ If the high hand is seven or less play the high tile on the low hand

when given a choice.

~ If the high hand is eight or better play the high tile on the high hand

when given a choice.

~ Where possible do not play the two highest tiles on the same hand.

7. Exceptions to General Play

· High 10. Low 10, any 6 with 2 or 12. Play 0 and 8

· High 10, Low 10, 11 any 7 or 8. Play 0 and 8 or 0 and 9

· High 8, High 10, 11 any 7. Play 7 and 9

· High 6, 5, Gee Jun any 2 or 12. Play 7 and 9

· High 6, 5, Gee Jun any 7. Play 2 and 9

· High 6, 5, Gee Jun any 8. Play 3 and 9

· High 6, 5, Gee Jun any 10. Play 5 and 9

· High 6, 5, Gee Jun and 11. Play 6 and 9

· High 6, Low 6, 5 and Gee Jun. Play 1 and 9

· High 6, 5, Gee Jun and nine. Play 4 and 9

· High 4, Low 4, 5 any 6. Play 0 and 9

· High 6, Low 6, 2 or 12 with any 4 or 5. Play 0 and 8 or 1 and 8

· High 4, Low 4, 5, Gee Jun. Play 7 and 9 with the high 4 on the high hand

· High 10, Low 10, High 6 with any 7. Play 6 and 7 with the high 10 on the

high hand

· High 4, High 10, Low 4, Eleven. Play 4 and 5 with High 4 on the high hand

· High 10, High 8, Low 8 and 9. Play 7 and 8 with the High 8 on the low

hand.

The exceptions listed above may also be known as using the format

outlined below.

~ If after bringing both hands closer together you have 1 on the low hand

and it is possible to make 8 or 9 on the high hand play the eight or nine.

~ If after bringing both hands closer together you have 2 on the low hand

and it is possible to make 8 using a Teen or Day. Play the 8.

~ If after bringing both hands closer together you have two tiles in the first

six rankings on the same hand and its possible to separate them without

altering the point totals on the hands do so.

~ If after bringing both hands closer together you have an 8 with 5, Gee

Jun on either hand and its possible to make a high 6 ranked nine or

better do so.

~ High 8, High 10, 11 any 7, Play 7 and 9.

 

Claridge House Way

The following is the house way of the Claridge in Atlantic City. The Wizard of Odds would like to thank the Claridge and the New Jersey Gaming Commission for copying their house way upon request.

For purposes of notation H preceeded by a number shands for High. An L preceeded by a number stands for Low. For example H4 is the high four or Goose domino and the L4 is the low four or Barn domino.

  • Always keep the supreme pair together except with 4-6, 5-6, or non-pairing 6-6.
  • Play a pair of 12's or 2's together except if either (1) they can be split apart to make a 6 or higher in the low hand and 8 or higher in the high hand or (2) the other two dominos are 9 and 11.
  • Play a pair of 9's together except if the other two dominos are any non-pairing combination of 2's, 10's, and 12's.
  • Play a pair of 8's together except if either (1) the other two dominos are any non-pairing combination of 2's, 10's, 11's, and 12's or (2) the other two dominos are 9 and 11.
  • Play a pair of 7's together except if either (1) the other two dominos are a 12 and a 2, 10, or 11 or (2) the other two dominos are a 2 and a 10, 11, or 12.
  • When the hand contains a 2 or 12, 7, 8, and any other domino not forming a pair then play the 7 with the 2 or 12 (forming a 9) if the other hand totals high 3 or higher (rank of 4 or higher or 3 with the Long domino). If the lower hand does not total to high 3 or higher then play the 12 with the 8 in the high hand (forming a Gong).
  • When the hand contains a 2 or 12, 7, 9, and any other domino not forming a pair then play the 7 with the 2 or 12 (forming a 9) if the other hand totals high 3 or higher (rank of 4 or higher or 3 with the Long domino). If the lower hand does not total to high 3 or higher then play the 12 with the 9 in the high hand (forming a Wong).
  • When the hand contains a 2 or 12, 8, 9, and any other domino not forming a pair then play the 8 with the 2 or 12 (forming a Gong) if the other hand totals high 3 or higher (rank of 4 or higher or 3 with the Long domino). If the lower hand does not total to high 3 or higher then play the 12 with the 9 in the high hand (forming a Wong).
  • When the hand contains a 2 or 12, 8, 9, and any 4 then always play the 8 with the 2 or 12 in the high hand (forming a Gong) and a 3 in the low hand.
  • If the hand does not contain a pair, Gong, or Wong then play two dominos together with a value equal to 7 or more with the following exceptions:
    • 2 or 12+4+5+11: Play the 5 with 11 to form a 6 and 6.
    • 2+4+5+12: Play the 4 with the 12 to form a high 6 and 7.
    • H4+L4+10+11: Play the high 4 with the 10 to form a 4 and 5.
  • If the hand does not contain a pair, Gong, Wong or two dominos with a value of 7 or more then then play the highest domino with the lowest domino with the following exceptions:
    • Wild+4+L6+7: Play the 4 with the 7 to form a 1 and 9.
    • Wild+5+L6+7: Play the 5 with the 7 to form a 2 and 9.
    • Wild+5+6+2 or 12: Play the 2 or 12 with the 5 to form a 7 and 9.
    • Wild+5+6+10: Play the 6 with 10 to form a 6 and 8.
    • 2+10+11+12: Play the 12 with the 10 to form a high 2 and 3.
    • L4+H4+5+9: Play the high 4 with the 9 to form a high 3 and 9.
    • 7+L10+H10+11: Play the two tens together to form a 0 and 9.
    • 2 or 12+5+L10+H10: Play the two tens together to form a 0 and 7.
    • 2 or 12+6+L10+H10: Play the two tens together to form a 0 and 8.
    • 4+L10+H10+11: Play H10 and 11 together to form a high 1 and 4.
    • 2 or 12+4+L6+H6: Play the 4 with the high 6 to form a 0 and 8.
    • 2 or 12+5+L6+H6: Play the 5 with the high 6 to form a 1 and 8.
    • 6+H8+H10+11: Play the 6 with the 10 to form a 6 and 9.
    • 7+H8+H10+11: Play the 7 with the 10 to form a 7 and 9.
    • 7+H8+L10+11: Play the 7 with the 10 to form a 7 and 9.
    • 6+L10+H10+11: Play the two tens together to form a 0 and 7.
  • When the hand contains dominos that give the option of playing the higher ranked domino in the low hand or the high hand then play the highest ranked domino in the low hand with the following exceptions:
    • 2+5+6+12: Play the 2 with the 5 to form a 7 and high 8.
    • L4+H4+5+6: Play the L4 with the 5 to form a 0 and high 9.
    • L4+H4+5+7: Play the L4 with the 7 to form a 1 and high 9.
    • L4+H4+5+L8: Play the L4 with the L8 to form a 2 and high 9.
    • 3+4+L6+H6: Play the L6 with the 4 to form a 0 and high 9.
    • 3+5+L6+H6: Play the 5 with the L6 to form a 1 and high 9.
    • 3+L6+H6+11: Play the L6 with the 11 to form a 7 and high 9.
    • 4+L6+H6+11: Play the 4 with the L6 to form a 0 and high 7.
    • 5+L6+H6+11: Play the 5 with the L6 to form a 1 and high 7.
    • H4+6+L8+H8: Play the 4 with the L8 to form a 2 and high 4.
    • H4+7+L8+H8: Play the 4 with the L8 to form a 2 and high 5.
    • H6+7+L8+H8: Play the 6 with the L8 to form a 4 and high 5.
    • L8+H8+L10+11: Play the L8 with the 10 to form an 8 and high 9.
